At Low Maintenance Landscape, flagstone patio construction work is the best quality you will
find.  There are 6 characteristics to good quality patio; if you scrimp on even one of them, the
entire patio is compromised. Our flagstone patios are constructed using  2-3" thick, high
quality hardened sandstone slabs measuring up to 5' accross. The spacing between stones
averages 1/4" and is constructed on a 6" thick machine compacted AB-3 and sand base. This
may sound like a bunch of blah, but you should really read the six questions below before
paying anyone thousands of dollars to install a flagstone patio for you.

We construct fire pits, fire bowls and stone outdoor fireplaces. An
outdoor fire feature will provide you a cozy and romantic place to
harness the warmth & light of an open fire.  Your kids will enjoy the fun
and responsibility of having campfires and cooking marshmallows.
Some will skimp on one or more of these qualities and take short cuts that you will never notice until
parts of the patio break a year after the warranty has expired and things start breaking.  So remember
the old rules when dealing with contractors; you get what you pay for.  Any bid significantly lower than
the others could indicate that the contractor has a less than ideal reputation, is not including all the
work quoted by the other contractors, or is planning to surprise you with additional charges once the

notice until a year after contractors will "job hop" meaning they will start the job to get the deposit and
they take months to finish the work if at all.  Many landscape companies also cheat by hiring illegal
aliens. They are usually paid below minimum wage and are not accountable for their work. You, the
homeowner can even get into trouble for this so make should ask if they hire illegal aliens.  Our
estimates may seem a bit high but we guarantee you will be much happier with craftsmanship that will
last many decades.

What makes us different from the other company?
A stepping stone path is constructed by installing individual flagstones with step-size gaps
between them.  This is a good solution for low traffic areas or lawn areas that you don't want to
call attention to.  A stepping stone path is also a more affordable alternative to a flagstone path.
We create "one of a kind" antique brick patios & sidewalks. Our antique brick pavers have been salvaged
from streets in the mid-western United States and are 100+ years old. Many have "Lawrence" stamped
into them and are in great shape.  The bricks from this era were made to last and do not fade lik or
crumble the concrete pavers of today.  They create a historic look and mix well with our flagstone patios.
The beauty and character of antique brick cannot be matched
Sloping sites can present real problems including runoff and erosion. It can also be

challenging to find a way to use this property.  Sites like this can really benefit from the
construction of a retaining walls to provide more level areas for planting beds or recreation.
We construct beautiful natural stone retaining walls using a variety of stone ranging from
naturalistic to more formal.
A seat wall is basically a freestanding or retaining wall with a flat surface built into it for sitting.
These beautiful constructions create an ideal setting for entertaining your family and friends.
We have an eye for creating natural looking stone outcroppings similar to what
you'll see in nature.  A well constructed stone outcropping serves the purpose of a
retaining wall by slowing runoff and reducing erosion.  The difference is that an
outcropping looks more natural; like it has always been there.
we are known for our creative use of natural stone.  Stone
edging can be installed around a bed area; helps give it
structure in the winter.  It also helps keep mulch in your
bed if your on a slope. Many of our beds are fine with out
beauty and flexibility of stone.  We don't recommend
plastic, steel, or wood edging for many reasons.
A natural stone dry riverbed we construct recreates what you will find in
nature. It is a beautiful landscaping approach used in sloping areas to
help control erosion. Most of the time when the feature is dry, the stone
will be the focal point.  But when we get the heavy rain, it will transform
into a beautiful flowing stream.
Accent boulders can be used in a number if ways and are a great addition to
your landscape. When we install boulders in your landscape, it is very important
to be sensitive to the way they are placed. They must be partially buried so that
each boulder looks like it has been there for a long time rather than just dropped
randomly.  Our landscape designer will determine the best way to group and
install each stone.  We usually purchase boulders that are available locally, so
they fit well into the natural landscape.  Accent boulders can also function as
natural sitting areas.
Decorative rock is basically stone pebbles being used as mulch in a flower bed
or to disguise a french drain system. Many different looks are available.
